about usThere's a brand new choir in the vibrant Kapi Mana area. Join us and experience the wonderful diversity that is world, folk and traditional music.
Serenade in Samoan, be fanciful in French, prepare to be amazed at how African singing and movement will uplift and energise you, and of course a world choir in Aotearoa wouldn't be complete without some waiata.
You don't need to be able to read music to join us. We learn traditional music the traditional way - by ear.
There are no auditions - this choir is open to anyone who loves singing (even if the only thing to hear your voice lately is the bathroom towel).
Questions? Send us an email or fill in our enquiry form on our Contact page .
Can't wait to get started? Or maybe just a bit curious? Come along and sing with our friendly choir community any Thursday during school term time and see if we are the right choir for you.

So you think you can't sing...There is an old Zimbabwean proverb:
We agree. Our choir is open to anyone because we believe that everyone can sing, regardless of background or experience.
Of course, if you haven't sung for a while, or you have never been given some tips on how to use that wonderful instrument you were born with (your voice) then you may not be singing as well as you could be. That's where we come in. At the Kapi Mana Community Choir we will support you to exercise that singing muscle and fine tune that listening ear. You will be surprised what a difference a few singing sessions and some vocal tips can have on the quality of your voice, and your enjoyment in using it.

World musicRich harmonies and exciting rhythms are not all that traditional and folk music from different cultures have to offer.
World music is a genre rooted in traditional storytelling. Stories about people and their experiences. Tales of travel and adventures. From love songs to work songs; from moving chants to rousing celebrations and sometimes about every day necessities like bringing in the water from a well. If we let it, world music can take us on a singing holiday to another place, another time - and all without leaving the room.
Singing global music is a passion of our choir leader, Pam. She sees these songs as old treasures that help us relate to and connect with others - even though we may be far away in time or distance.
